OLVENIQ Saddlery — handcrafted in the European Union
The Gatcombe is a close-contact saddle in the classical sense: minimal bulk, maximal feel, and craftsmanship that survives water combinations and airport handlers alike.
The leather is selected hide by hide from a single family-run tannery in Tuscany, vegetable-tanned over six weeks and finished by hand until it develops the deep, quiet lustre that no accelerated process can imitate. Our saddlers cut every panel along the natural grain, so the piece breaks in gracefully and grows more beautiful with each season of use.
Design & Craftsmanship
- Edges skived, folded and edge-painted by hand — no raw cuts anywhere on the saddle
- Hand-stitched in our European atelier — eight stitches to the inch in waxed linen thread
- Stainless-steel stirrup bars, recessed and hand-polished
- Balance point calibrated on a measuring bench before dispatch
- Shallow, close seat allowing effortless transition between phases of the jump
- Anatomic cutaway at the shoulder freeing the scapula at maximum bascule
- Seamless deep seat construction with no pressure ridges under the rider

Care
Wipe dust and sweat after each use with a barely damp cloth, then feed the leather monthly with the OLVENIQ Leather Balsam. Keep away from direct heat, allow wet leather to dry naturally, and store on a shaped rack or padded hook. Treated with respect, this piece will serve for decades and acquire a patina unique to your stable.
Questions, Answered
How do I know my seat size?
Your fitter will confirm it, but as guidance: most riders take 17" or 17.5"; longer thigh or a preference for a roomier seat suggests 18".
Can the saddle be fitted to my horse?
Yes. Every purchase includes a consultation with an OLVENIQ master saddle fitter, and the wool-flocked panels and adjustable tree allow precise fitting to your horse's current shape — with re-fitting available as the horse develops.
